280 Characters in Tweets Have Arrived

November 8, 2017

Sidekick Now Supports 280 Characters

After much anticipation, Twitter has officially doubled the tweet character limit from 140 characters to 280 characters

Author Platform Sidekick has been updated to take full advantage of this, with all forms updated to allow more characters.

This update applies to Team Up tweets, Evergreen queue, Marketing queue and the Scheduled Promotion queue. This also means that Newsdesk Queue tweets, dynamically created from RSS feeds, are less likely to hit the character limit.

According to Twitter, bigger tweets lead to fascinating results.

During Twitter's recent beta test, users tweeting with up to 280 characters appreciated the benefits of:

  • More followers
  • More engagement (retweets, likes, @mentions)
  • More time spent on Twitter

So, if you've got more to say, Sidekick has you covered.
